This Model 1890 rifle was one of a series of rifles purchased by the Turkish government from Mauser,  Germany.

   Mauser, Oberndorf, Germany were contracted to build and supply the M1890 to the Turkish Government 

       The terms of the contract with Mauser enabled the Turks to change the specifications of the rifles supplied, so as to keep pace with any new design developments which Mauser introduced into its products.

 

          Approximately 280,000 Turkish Model 1890 rifles and carbines were ordered from Mauser.    This included 180,000 rifles and 30,000 carbines, all chambered in 7.65x53mm Mauser.
