This Enfield manufactured Number 1 Mark 1*** dated 1907 has been around the British Empire.

At sometime in the past it was sent to British India and has a re-enforcing screw installed,   this was a standard practice by the British Indian Army in India.

The rifle was properly sent to British India after the end of WW1,   but by 1929 it was back at the Enfield factory for FTR work.

Also this rifle has seen trench warfare on the western front and was used at sometime as an 'Emergency rifle'.

Only in WW1 in the British trenches were 'emergency rifle deployed' so we know this rifle was in the British Army frontline trench system at sometime.

In 1929 the rifle was sent for repair work ( FTR )  and the in 1935 this rifle was again sent in for repair (FTR) and stamped with a Enfield factory inspection stamp.

The barrel is dated 1907 also we have counted at least Ten factory inspection stamps on the barrel and military proof stamps.  On top of the barrel is stamped  the British Nitro Stamp and tonnage tested.

At the end of its military career the rifle was DP for troop training before being sold off.

After it was sold off the rifle was BNP tested to comply with the British proof act.

This is a collector's rifle due to its extensive military and combat history,  the entire rifle dates from 1907 , the receiver,  barrel the bolt.....everything.

The butt has its original cartouche stamped at the Enfield factory in 1907 and the overall condition is what you will expect from a 119 year old service rifle.
