Long Lee Enfield Mk1* 1899 .303 Boer War 'Naval'
This Enfield manufactured Long Lee was made in early 1899 as a Mk1 (still has number on receiver) then in mid production was converted to a Mk1*
This was a Naval contract for the Royal Marines as there is stamped N on the receiver, in 1899
the Second Boer had just started in South Africa. The Long Lee Enfield was the standard rifle used at that time by the British Army and Navy.
